MBBS. Dr. Bernadette Hess graduated from The University of Melbourne in 1982, working at St Vincent’s then the Western Hospital. In 1990 she moved to General Practice, initially in Footscray and joined Alphington Medical Centre in 1997. Over many of those years, she also worked in General Practices attached to Emergency Departments in the northern suburbs. She has interest and experience in many areas of General Practice and enjoys seeing all, from babies through to people in their later years.

MBBS. Dr. Jenny Bourke graduated from Melbourne University in 1982. She has worked at Alphington Medical Centre since 1988. She is experienced and trained in a broad range of General Practice and has special interests in women’s health, preventative medicine, travel medicine and paediatrics.

MBBS, FRACGP. Dr Maria Raftopoulos Graduated from Melbourne University in 1995. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She speaks fluent Greek. Her main interests are women’s health, mental health and paediatrics.

MBBS FRACGP, B.MUS, GradDip (HUMSS). Special Interests: General Medicine, Woman's health and Family planning. Dr. Merilyn Gates graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1991. Her interests lie in general medicine, women’s health, and antenatal shared care. For 19 years she worked with Dr. Chris Apostolopoulos at Darebin Road Medical Clinic. Merilyn sang with the Melbourne Chorale/ MSO Chorus for 10 years and loves opera. On occasion, you may see her hacking away on the local golf course or enjoying a good frappe.
Dr Chabbou’s special interests are mental health, emergency, paediatrics and drug rehabilitation. Dr Chabbou was born in Syria and completed his medical training in Romania. Dr Chabbou has worked in Tasmania, Frankston, Swan Hill, Kyabram and Western Hospital before settling in Cobram in 2001. Dr Chabbou speaks English, Arabic and Romanian and is a Registrar GP trainer.
Dr Monica Singh received a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Delhi University in 1995 and has extensive experience working in public and private hospitals in both regional and metropolitan areas of Victoria. She has worked in a range of different specialties including Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, General Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, Emergency and Mental Health. She is an experienced GP who brings a solid base of knowledge to our practice.
She enjoys all aspects of General Practice including children’ health care to diabetes care, immunisations, travel medicine and chronic disease management and is a strong believer in preventative medicine. She particularly enjoys getting to know people from different cultural backgrounds. She's also affiliated with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
MBBS, FRACGP, DCH. Dr. Shirley Au graduated from Melbourne University in 2006 and has been working at Alphington Medical Centre since 2011. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has completed Diploma in Child Health through Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology through RANZCOG. She speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.

Dr Thanh-Thuan Nguyen is a passionate family Doctor enjoying broad variety and at times challenging complexity in General Practice. Having grown up for thirty years in Germany, he graduated in medicine in 2005 and obtained his Fellowship in 2016 with the Royal Australian College of GPs.
Since relocating to Melbourne in 2008, he gained valuable hospital experience in Ballarat, Frankston and Rosebud (2012-2015), and enjoyed marvellous GP Training in rural Gippsland (Korumburra, Warragul) and 4 years in Cowes on Phillip Island. Since mid-2018, he has settled in Melbourne and last worked in the Preston area.
Dr Nguyen has special interests in Preventive Health, Lifestyle Medicine, and Aged Care. Additionally, Implanon insertion/removal and minor skin surgery. Languages: German, Vietnamese and petit French. Dr Nguyen enjoys time with his family, tennis and swimming.
Please Note: Dr Selvarajah is not seeing New Patients at the moment. MBChB, FRACGP, DCH. Dr. Yasodha Selvarajah grew up between Australia and New Zealand and graduated from The University of Otago (New Zealand) in 2007. She has worked at Alphington Medical Centre since 2012. Yasodha enjoys seeing a variety of general practice and particularly has interests in paediatrics, women’s health and she is registered for Shared Maternity Care. Yasodha has completed a Diploma in Child Health (The University of Sydney & The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network). She is the mother of three young children and loves the balance that general practice provides with family life. Apart from spending time with her family, she enjoys photography, reading and watching the infamous trans-Tasman sporting rivalry!
