Dr Julia (MBBS, FRACGP) has been part of Fremantle Family Doctors family for many years. Whilst she might not always be consulting for us she is in the background helping with telehealth appointments. Dr Julia is involved in teaching students, organising educational meetings for our GP’s.

A Perth boy since 1970, Sacha completed his medical degree at UWA in 1990 and his GP fellowship in 1995. He lives locally with his two young sons, who keep him busy when he’s not at the surgery. A proud founding partner of the practice, Sacha enjoys the challenge that the breadth of General Practice can bring. He is particularly interested in Paediatrics, Asthma, Cardiology and Diabetes. His outside interests include paddling, running, cycling, photography, cooking, wine and travel.

Rene grew up in Malaysia and moved to Australia age 13. He attended high school locally, and graduated in Medicine from UWA in 2004. He subsequently worked in Fremantle Hospital, PMH and KEMH. He completed General Practice training in 2010 and completed the Diploma of Child Health in 2011. Rene is interested in all areas of general practice and does minor surgical procedures. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, tennis, motorbikes and MotoGP.

Rebecca trained in the UK, graduating from Southampton University in 1999 and has been living and working in Perth since 2001. She enjoys all aspects of medicine and is qualified to insert IUDs (copper and progesterone) and contraceptive implantss. Rebecca worked in Perth hospitals for many years as a medical registrar, gaining a wide range of experience. She always loves to see children and has 2 young daughters that keep her busy when not at work. In any spare time she loves windsurfing, sailing and camping.

Scott was born and raised in Perth and graduated from UWA in 2009. He worked for 5 years in Fremantle and Rockingham hospitals in a variety of medical specialties including geriatrics, stroke rehabilitation, renal and haematology. He enjoys all aspects of general practice and is qualified in the insertion and removal of contraceptive implants. In his spare time he enjoys running, gardening and spending time with his young family.

I grew up in the country and graduated from medical school at Notre Dame Fremantle in 2013. I have practiced in various specialties across Perth hospitals, as well as a short stint in Kalgoorlie, and did 3 years of paediatrics training before making the switch to General Practice. I am interested in all aspects of general practice, particularly:
• Lifestyle and preventative medicine
• A focus on health at every size
• Paediatrics including eczema and asthma
• Women’s health
• Sexual health
• Chronic disease management
• Mental health
I am passionate about patient centred care and enjoy providing education to empower patients to understand their health and wellbeing. When I’m not at work I enjoy growing various fruits and vegetables, being outdoors, cooking, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Dr Laura Surmon FRACGP PhD MD is originally from Sydney, moving to Perth in 2021. She has completed the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and comes with a wealth of varied life experience and training. Laura has extensive research and clinical experience as a scientist across areas such as preeclampsia and assisted reproductive technology [Infertility and IVF]. Laura has also played a significant role in the education and training of future medical practitioners, and currently teaches at the University of Notre Dame Fremantle.
As a General Practitioner, Dr Surmon is passionate about wholistic, individualistic and compassionate care for her patients. She firmly believes that the doctor-patient relationship is a partnership and collaboration, striving to empower her patients in their own health care in order to achieve the best health outcomes.
Dr Surmon has particular interest in the specialty areas of; women’s health including perimenopause and menopause management; male and female infertility; mental health; medical weight loss and weight management; and injectables including volumising treatments and muscle relaxers for wrinkles and medical concerns such as bruxism [teeth grinding] and excessive sweating.

Ellen completed medical training at the University of Western Australia and has since worked in a wide range of areas at various hospitals both in Perth and remotely in Broome, Western Australia, where she commenced GP training at the local Aboriginal Medical Service.
She has completed additional studies in nutrition and public health and enjoys all aspects of general practice particularly; lifestyle and preventative health, women’s health, paediatrics and rural medicine.

Dr Anwari undertook her undergraduate degree (BSc. Hons) at UWA and commenced her PhD in insulin signalling at UWA. She then went on to finish her postgraduate medical degree (MBBS) at UNDA Fremantle.
Over the course of her career she has worked at all the major tertiary Perth hospitals.
She has a keen interest in skin disorders and skin cancer, given her extensive time within Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and critical medicine from her time as Emergency Department Registrar. Her other interests include:
- Skin cancer checks and excision of lesions
- Minor procedures including contraceptive implant insertion and removal, iron infusions.
- Family medicine and women’s health including pregnancy care
- Aboriginal health
- Mental health
- Preventative health management
