The role:
If you’re a strong Commercial Lawyer with experience in litigation, M&A, contract and leasing, love working in-house and are interested in the healthcare industry – then this is the role for you!

As our General Legal Counsel with a focus on corporate and commercial projects and business activity, you will report directly to the CEO, and your role will be broad and will evolve over time. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing all aspects of the legal function at the organisation.
  • Manage & provide commercially focused legal advice;
  • Provide legal support on M&A which forms the main area of growth;
  • Negotiate and draft a wide range business transactions, including contracts, leases/subleases across various states in Australia, contracts and documents;
  • Provide legal advice in relation to commercial or corporate disputes and litigated matters;
  • Providing legal support to the business in relation to RFPs, tenders and other proposals.
  • Responding to queries regarding interpretation of contractual terms and conditions, as well as reviewing and preparing other legal documentation, as required.
  • Managing legal disputes and other contentious matters towards effective and pragmatic outcomes.
  • Identifying legal risks in transactions and advising on appropriate mitigations
  • Contributing to broader corporate business improvement processes.

 

The ideal candidate:
The successful candidate will:
  • Bachelor’s degree in law from an Australian university
  • Minimum 5+ years post qualification experience
  • Eligible for admission to practice law across various states in Australia
  • Background in drafting complex agreements
  • Strong general legal skills with an eye for mitigating critical contract deficiencies and risks
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to effectively communicate complex legal information to senior management and other stakeholders is essential.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities;
  • Strong Contract and Consumer Law experience;
  • Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to provide pragmatic legal advice;
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong preference for broad legal experience including corporate, M&A, commercial, leasing and intellectual property.
