Additional Costs

Procedures at McDonald Street Medical Centre may incur a facility fee and are charged as recommended by the Australian Medical Association (AMA). Please enquire during the consultation of any additional fees for your visit.

Chronic Disease Plans

Chronic Disease Management Plans and Team Care Arrangements are bulk billed at McDonald Street Medical Centre.

Mental Health Care Plans

Standard (>20 mins) Private $135 Concession $120 Rebate $92.50

Long (>40 mins) Private $160 Concession $150 Rebate $136.25

 

Iron Infusions

McDonald Street Medical Centre offers onsite Iron Infusions for medically appropriate conditions.

Please enquire with reception for booking details and cost.

Vaccinations and Immunisations

We strongly encourage all children to complete their immunisations and this can be arranged through our GPs. If you are travelling abroad, you may also need extra vaccinations. Please discuss this with your GP ahead of time, as some vaccinations need to be given a month or so before travelling.

Afterhours Medical Care

In case of emergency please call 000. For our home visit after hours service please call 03 8508 9955.

Interpreters

If you require an interpreter we can provide this at our clinic. If you call our clinic in advance of your appointment we can arrange for this service to be available at the time of your booked appointment.

Accredited Practice

We are Accredited Practice. This is independent recognition that out practice is committed to delivering safe and high quality healthcare to our patients by complying with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for general practices.

Clinic Policies 

Billing Policy

We are a private billing practice. Payment is requested on the day and Efptos is available for your convenience. We can process your Medicare rebate at the time of payment.

Script Policy

Our clinic prefers to see patient in person to discuss medication requirements and renewal prescriptions.

We understand that in some cases, this may not be convenient. Please contact our reception desk to discuss your options.

Results, Recalls & Reminders

If you are referred for pathology or other investigations you must make a follow up appointment to receive your results.

Our practice is committed to preventative care. We may send you a reminder notice periodically, offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care.

Please let our staff know if you want to opt out from SMS reminders.

 

Telephone access

If a GP is with a patient, a message will be taken. In order to provide the best possible care, our GPs are unable to provide medical advice over the phone. It is in the best interest of the patient to make an appointment to see their GP.

Health Record Management

At McDonald Street Medical Centre all of your health information is strictly confidential. This is done by maintaining the security of information and ensuring that it is only shared with an available authorised member of staff. Each staff member receives training on confidentiality and privacy of health records.

We comply with 10 National Privacy Principles as outlined on the https://www.oaic.gov.au/ website as governed by the Privacy Act 1988, the Privacy Amendment (private sector) Act 2000 and the Victorian Health Records Act 2001.

Feedback/Complaints

At McDonald Street Medical Centre we value your feedback. We strive to provide a high quality service to our valued patients while maintaining an environment of respect, diligence and integrity.

Any suggestions, compliments, concerns or complaints can be given verbally or in writing to the Practice Manager.

At McDonald St Medical Centre we strive for excellence within our practice, accommodating to both patient and staff needs and requests.
Upon completing our patient survey we found 98% of all patients ratings were good, very good or excellent upon visiting our clinic.
