A skin cancer screening at DrSkinCheck includes a full-body skin examination using dermoscopy (a specialised magnifying instrument). Our doctors check all moles and skin lesions for signs of melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma.
The Cancer Council recommends regular skin checks, especially if you have fair skin, a history of sunburn, many moles, or a family history of skin cancer. Most Australians should have at least an annual skin check.
Skin cancer consultations at DrSkinCheck are typically bulk billed for eligible Medicare card holders. Some procedures such as biopsies or excisions may have additional costs which will be discussed beforehand.
If a suspicious lesion is identified, our doctors can perform a biopsy on the spot in most cases. Results are typically available within a week. If treatment is needed, our doctors can discuss excision, referral to a specialist, or other appropriate options.
You can book a skin check online through our website or call us directly. We offer appointments at multiple clinic locations across Australia. No referral is needed.
