After a 20 year career in the Australian Navy Rick went to university and obtained his degree in psychology. He started work in the prison system, where he gained experience in treating depression, anxiety, trauma – both recent and from childhood – as well as assessing clients at risk of self-harm and contributing to their management plan. Rick has worked with a wide variety of clients including indigenous people, military veterans, and clients with mental health diagnosis such as schizophrenia.
In addition Rick became a trained facilitator of therapeutic and psycho-educational group programs, including being an accredited facilitator of the Gatekeeper suicide awareness program. He also has worked with men who have had anger issues and those who have have sexually offended and helped them with plans to keep themselves and others safe. Rick is committed to helping people to have full and healthy lives within their means. He uses CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), Solution Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma.

In 2015 I trekked The Inca Trail with the burns survivor Turia Pitt and fundraised for a surgical organisation called Interplast.
They provide free surgical procedures to people with congenital/acquired deformities in countries in the Asia-Pacific region with limited healthcare.
I trekked in Borneo in 2017 and fundraised for The Orangutan Project who provide funds for the rescue, rehabilitation and release of orangutans back into protected forests in Borneo and Sumatra. She has trained in a variety of specialties including Obstetrics and Gynaecology (women’s health), Urology (men’s health), Surgery, Cardiology and Emergency Medicine. She has an extra diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in women’s health and won a prize at University for her dissertation on Cardiomyopathy which she presented at an international research conference.

She provides education across all areas of diabetes care, including insulin initiation and titration, continuous glucose monitoring, and insulin pump therapy. Katie offers insulin pump starts, troubleshooting, and technology support to help patients get the most out of their devices. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and focused on helping people understand their diabetes and make informed decisions about their health.
Katie works closely with GPs and endocrinologists and ensures clear, timely communication after each consultation. Referrals are welcome for diabetes education, insulin starts and reviews, insulin pump starts and optimisation, CGM support, and ongoing care.
