Dr. Basnayake is a highly experienced and compassionate General Practitioner with over a decade of clinical experience in Australia. She completed her MBBS in 1998 and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and registered with the Australian medical council (AMC).
Dr. Basnayake has a special interest in women’s health matters including:
Dr Basnayake also has a special interest in healthy lifestyle, mental health and weight loss management.
Known for her holistic and patient-centered approach, Dr. Basnayake builds lasting relationships with her patients and is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care across all stages of life.
She continues to stay up to date with current medical guidelines and best practices by attending seminars, workshops and training programs.

Dr Stanley enjoys providing comprehensive general practice care and has highly developed skills in managing women’s health with a specific interest in menopause and perimenopause, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), pelvic pain, painful periods, and contraception. She provides contraceptive implant insertion and removal, and IUD removal (only). She is aligned to provide shared antenatal care for Mater and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
Dr Stanley holds Fellowship of Royal Australian General Practitioner and Family Planning Association Certificate (National Certificate of Reproductive and Sexual Health). Mary-Jane is a member of Australasian Menopause Society, Pelvic Pain Foundation, and committee member of Queensland Pelvic Pain Network.
Dr Stanley has been involved in clinical education to other GP's .She is a certified contraceptive implants trainer and has provided lectures in menopause and clinical training for the FPAA (Family Planning Australia Alliance) certificate course.
Dr Stanley currently works Monday and Wednesday and welcomes new patients.

Working initially in Bundaberg, Dr Thomas had the opportunity to develop skills in all aspects of Australian General Practice whilst developing a particular interest in women's health.
Moving to Brisbane in 2023 and joining the Lilian Cooper Centre to further develop this interest, Dr Thomas welcomes women of all ages interested in a holistic approach to their healthcare. She holds a certificate in Sexual Health and Family Planning, membership of the Royal College of GP's (UK), fellowship of the Royal Australian College of GP's and is a member of the Australasian Menopause Society whose conferences she attends. Dr Thomas is able to assist with contraceptive implant insertion and removal, IUD removal (only), cervical screening and iron infusions and has a particular interest in supporting women transitioning through peri to post menopausal symptoms.
Dr Thomas works Tuesday to Friday and welcomes new patients.

Marcela works with adults (18+) who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment difficulties, life transitions, grief and loss. The evidence-based approaches she uses are cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), schema therapy (ST) and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR).
Marcela's therapy is client-centered and the treatment is tailored to each individual’s unique story, needs and goals. She is committed to providing a safe, compassionate space for her clients so that they feel supported to heal, grow and live their best possible life, even in the presence of obstacles.
Marcela welcomes you and is available at Lilian Cooper on Wednesdays.
